The Search for Robert Smith in The Anonymous HeART Project

The Anonymous HeART Project is a British charity auction featuring art created by "artists, celebs, and high profiled names."  There is some AWESOME art in the 457 pieces for sale. Here's a list of contributors with thumbnails and links to all the works.  I'll squirrel into a few of my favourites--first up: Dogs!

Greeting card worthy, don't you think?

Collage. The hearts, oh the hearts!
This one!  Captures the moment.

For the Frenchie lover!

The top 2 look a bit mothy.
Another greeting card.  :-)

And back to Robert Smith, because originally I was looking to see if I could figure out which piece was his. As I'm clicking thru I'm thinking he would prolly do something abstract.  Perhaps this?
LOVE this!

LOVE CATS!  :-)

Perhaps this?
Messy hair and whatnot.

AH-HA!  FOUND IT:

I weeded out anything cute, intricate, or "Untitled."  The "If only I'd thought of the right words...." is the give-away. There are certain phrases that always pop up in his songs again and again. (See what I did there, for all you fellow Curists out there?  You're welcome).  Since the bidding is up to 3900 pounds, I'm not the only Cure fan who has figured it out.

I wonder how many of these he did or if this was the first one?  Someone might look at this and think he just said, "Mary, where's that spray paint?"  and sprayed and dripped.  "There, that's done."

Some works are like that. Others can be agonizing because they aren't matching the vision for what you want. "Noooo, the drip needs to go this way!"  Does that sound too artsy and pretentious?  I know my fellow Creatives are agreeing. "Oh, the agony of not getting it just right!"  That's the Perfection Paralysis we can fall into.  And here I thought I was just doing a quickity blog post . . . .   :-)

Carpool Karaoke Fantasy

I really love James Corden and his Carpool Karaoke is brilliant. However, while I appreciate the general idea of Carpool Karaoke, the pop stars who appear on it, are . . . pop-stars.  Apart from wrapping Christmas prezzies in Justin Bieber paper as a joke, I couldn't begin to name or fake-hum along with one of his songs, let alone getting stuck in a car for a medley. Fresh Hell, anyone? I didn't even watch the Mariah Carey one because, honestly?  If she hit one of those screech-owly high notes?  Just the thought makes my teeth hurt.

So here's my fantasy:  Carpool Karaoke hosted by Dom Joly singing to The Cure. And James Corden would be in the way back not singing along because he wouldn't know 100 Years or 3 Imaginary Boys. And then Friday I'm in Love would come on and James would be all gothed-out and singing along because this would be the song he'd know. But Robert Smith would not sing along, because it wouldn't be Friday. Therefore he would not be in love.

Speaking of Friday, I'm in Love . . . here you go, on Monday.  Sorry, Robert.

Robert Smith: Hey Caterpillar Girl

So there's a lot of pinning of "Hey Girl" pins on Pinterest. I had to google because I know it's some popular young actor-guy but I don't know who this guy is. Well, I do now because I googled. Ryan Somebody Gosling. Mum will be saying, "Who?" whilst reading this. Ha!  Here are a few Hey Girls:

This one & the next were pinned by a teacher-friend--so this is for you, Mari!

So here's one I designed with Robert Smith:

Here's another song:

Cured

Last night chiro-sister Ruthie & I went to a concert. It was a tribute band to The Cure. Called The Cured. Hahahaha They play all the songs that the real band won't play anymore! So we were ready to Death Rock out (the youngsters these day call it Goth). 2 opening bands??? Hehhhhh...finally the band came on around my bed time.

Back in the day, we used to call Robert Smith "Fat Bob" because he used to play with Souixsie & the Banshees and when Souixsie was asked about his role in the band, she said, "Fat Bob plays what he's told." Here's a shot of Fake Fat Bob:

Fake Simon did some really cool yoga-chi-kung-tai-chi. He held this pose for a v. long time:

There was no version of Lol and NO keyboards???? Here's guitar guy. Chiro-sis & I agreed he has a nice set of quads. Not something we ever would have commented on 20 years ago!

Here's what we 3 sisters looked like back in our Cure Daze:

And at the concert last night:

Did you bring protection? Ruth asked. Of course! We were not the only ones with ear plugs. Not even the real Fat Bob is worth hearing loss. The concert was a bit of a disappointment, not because of the band, but the sound. All bottomy bass & drums, with vocals & guitars v. faint. That was one of the things about seeing The Cure was that their sound is impeccible. The other thing is that Fake Fat Bob was way more engaging with the audience than Real Robert Smith. I'm used to being ignored. Hahahaha But there you have it. Now on to a fake U2 concert!

I'm on my way to the beach so will blog from there. :-) H.
