Carpool Karaoke Fantasy

I really love James Corden and his Carpool Karaoke is brilliant. However, while I appreciate the general idea of Carpool Karaoke, the pop stars who appear on it, are . . . pop-stars.  Apart from wrapping Christmas prezzies in Justin Bieber paper as a joke, I couldn't begin to name or fake-hum along with one of his songs, let alone getting stuck in a car for a medley. Fresh Hell, anyone? I didn't even watch the Mariah Carey one because, honestly?  If she hit one of those screech-owly high notes?  Just the thought makes my teeth hurt.

So here's my fantasy:  Carpool Karaoke hosted by Dom Joly singing to The Cure. And James Corden would be in the way back not singing along because he wouldn't know 100 Years or 3 Imaginary Boys. And then Friday I'm in Love would come on and James would be all gothed-out and singing along because this would be the song he'd know. But Robert Smith would not sing along, because it wouldn't be Friday. Therefore he would not be in love.

Speaking of Friday, I'm in Love . . . here you go, on Monday.  Sorry, Robert.

Beagle-Boy Buddy's Post-Breakfast Snooze

You know that idea that if you make your bed first thing, it's your first accomplishment of the day?  Try doing that with 3 dogs woofing for breakfast as soon as you even hint that you're awake! So I do it after I've fed everyone. I came back into the bedroom to this:

Distressed Chic Sparrow

I got this London Fog Chic Sparrow from a Facebook Chic Sparrow Buy, Sell, Trade group.  I was a bit too fast in buying it because I've always wanted a Chic Sparrow, and it was "London Fog" and-and-and!  It's beautiful and the craftsmanship is impeccable. But . . . it's grey and I'm not such a fan.

Then I saw a video where someone distressed their notebook. Then I saw another one by Elena Bedner who gave a bit more of the How To. That was the inspiration to take the plunge and distress my Chic Sparrow.

I got the Tim Holtz stencil & then I used some of my Noodler's black ink on a Q-Tip. And here it is:

That bottom ink splat is very special:
I printed out the Goulet Pens logo and then traced over it with a
Sharpie pen onto freezer paper. Then I cut it out & voila: a stencil.
Here's the whole thing:

If you look carefully on the lower right corner, you can see the name of the gal I bought it from:

Inside, I didn't do too much. I did an initial ink test on the pen loop & I stamped a tea cup on the secretary pocket:

And there you have it.  I'm still not glued to it and I've offered to sell it to another Jessica in the FB group who was interested, so I'm giving her first refusal. If she doesn't buy it, I'll post it on the group for $65. If you see it here and are interested, you can leave a comment below. You'll need PayPal, tho.

HAPPY Birthday, Bruce!!!

Today we celebrate the celebrating biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton. He is one of the most joyful people you will ever meet. Here's a summary I wrote a few a years ago called Bruce Lipton 101.

Some favourite quotes:

I woke up one morning and decided to live my life in nothing less than joy.

People are beginning to wake up: [they're saying] "I'm not separate from my community. I am my community!"

"Cancer is a lifestyle consequence."

"Change your perception and you change the function of your cells."

"You control the genes by the way you live your life."

"You're not a victim, you're a MASTER of your biology."

"You get sick not from what you caught but from what you already have." (Re: opportunistic microorganisms).

"Your life matches your beliefs."

"Kids learn without you teaching them." (Re: subconscious programming).

"How can you find love if you can't love yourself?"

Here are some of my favourite photos that I've taken over the years:
At the 2012 I Can Do It! Conference
With Chiro-sis Ruthie. :-)
Gregg Braden, Bruce, & Joe Dispenza for the first
time together on stage at the ICPA Conference, 2014.
We were at I Can Do It! Conference in Baltimore in 2014. We were walking up the street and Wayne Dyer was coming toward us. Luckily I had my camera!

With Danni, Anita Moorjani's husband.
Here's the last time I saw Bruce, last November:

I'll leave you with a great summary from Bruce about his work. It's especially relevant now:

A Tribute to Snuffy

It is a hard thing to say goodbye to our loved ones. It is especially hard when we have to say goodbye to our animal companions. In grieving through the deaths of Barkley, Remi, Millie, and Maggie, my boss and dear friend, John Morgan, has been there to support and comfort me. He told me, "There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who have dogs, and those who don't get it."

It is with heavy heart that I must write that yesterday, John Morgan and his family had to say goodbye to Snuffy, the black-nosed beagle. He was the famous dog on the cover of John's Hypnosis for Dogs CD:

I am remembering the first time I met Snuffy. I was going on the road with John Morgan for a week of seminars in New England. He picked me up at the airport and drove me home to have dinner with his family. He opened the front door and Snuffy came running out. As he ran around, John narrated like a football announcer, if he were a radio guy. Snuffy started with circle-eights in the front yard. Then he ran up to a mailbox and lifted his leg. "That's right, say 'hello' to the mailbox, Snuffy."

Snuffy was a constant source of entertainment as I would hear his Roo-Roos through the phone, when I was talking to John. Even more entertaining were John's conversations with Snuffy.

"Give me that rope, Snuffy. You heard me: ROPE."
Snuffy used to do "Circus Dog," where he'd tug on the rope
and barrel-role in a circle, while still holding on to the rope.
And then everyone would clap for him and cheer:
"YAY, Circus Dog!"
"It's 8 degrees out, but we're big boys, Snuffy. You know, it's this kind of weather that makes you feel alive . . . or close to death. I think my ears are going to snap off."

John comes home from being out.  "Snuffy, come over and give Poppy a kiss." [Snuffy licks his forehead]. "Oh, Snuffy. This is more healing than the water at Lourdes."

Graphic made in last election:

VET: Snuffy may have glaucoma.
John: Will he have to wear glasses?

[Whispers]  "The bloodhound just walked by a rabbit."

"Snuffy, big boys go OUTSIDE. We don't want to be like those cats. We hate cats."

"On the beach you may be a CHICK magnet, Snuffy. But in the woods, you're a TICK magnet."

"That's Poppy's ball."
Snuffy was truly a part of the family. Every year, they celebrated his birthday on October 16th:

Last year:

Complete with prezzies:
John named all the toys he got Snuffy. Leo the Lion and ?
They all would be TOAST in the first 5 minutes.
With Carla the Cow.
Lenny the Leopard draped on Snuffy does not distract Snuffy from his ball:
Poppy's ball.
Snuffy was part of all family birthdays and holidays. Here's his stocking for Christmas:

Oh, what a good boy, Snuffy. Santa, are you watching?"

Snuffy, the black-nosed beagle:

And here are a few more sleeping photos:

Once I got my own beagle, I felt even closer to Snuffy. Whenever I would says something Buddy had done, John would say, "Yeah, they do that."  Like having their backs up against something:

Dogs’ lives are too short. Their only fault, really.
—Agnes Sligh Turnbull

There's a saying that the best day of your life is when you first say hello to your new dog, and the worst is when you have to say goodbye. For those who have grieved the loss of a loved one, pet or person, no explanation is needed. It is the hardest thing we do, as humans, I think.

There is nothing that takes grief away, except the act of grieving. Grief is a testament to how deeply we love. It brings all the things we miss about our beloveds. Eventually . . . eventually sometimes it brings a smile instead of tears. RIP Snuffy. You were cherished and loved and deserved all of it.

Jammie Chat, Day 16: You Are Not Your Addiction

Quote:
"Every addiction arises from an unconscious refusal to face and move through your own pain. Every addiction starts with pain and ends with pain. Whatever the substance you are addicted to--alcohol, food, legal or illegal drugs, or a person--you are using something or somebody to cover up your pain." ~Eckhart Tolle

Jammie Chat: Day 2

20-some years later, Mum invited me to do a brain-based learning seminar for her nursing students.
So I gave the seminar, (wearing not-black and not-pajamas!) and at the end of it, I told that pajama story.  :-)

Accents

I subscribe to this channel, Stuff & Things "your good friend Bradley" on YouTube. I don't watch all his videos because he does tobacco reviews, video games, and fire arms; none of which I'm into. I got sucked in because of his Midori Traveler's Notebook review: A Man's Perspective video. But he also does fountain pen reviews and I enjoy his "Sunday Smoke" series where he just chats. I just came across a Sunday Smoke I hadn't seen and this was just a great demonstration of that old radio/movie voice. He also reads a critical comment from a viewer in a different voice and it's pretty funny. EnJOY . . . .  :-)

Grace's Bible-dori

I have been waiting to post this because I didn't want to spoil it for Grace, my YouTube friend in Oz. We had a back 'n' forth on my Tea Time Traveler's Notebook video about my Bible-dori. I had gotten 4 purple pocket bibles (USED--I draw the line at defiling a new bible!) but this one had this on it:

So it was meant to be!  Here are some photos:

Charm on side:

I made a pocket on the inside cover with coordinating scrapbook paper:
A card for Grace tucked in the pocket. On the right I made a pocket
folder, which I think I laminated so it could be used as a dashboard.
Inside of folder:

A little envelope with a coupla packets of tea, because who doesn't like a cuppa?

I included some little notebooks that I'd gotten from Office Max, & put some quotes on them:
That's my favourite gratitude quote. I'm also reminded of Tony Robbins saying that you can't feel angry or afraid when you're feeling grateful. Kind of like how Bruce Lipton says that you can't be in a state of love or fear at the same time, either.

Another quote & a coordinating purple pen. :-)
Other side of pocket:

With some goodies:
4-Leaf clovers because who doesn't need some luck?
I also made some quote cards for her:
Look! There's John Morgan. :-) Mum used to say, The world
would be a better place if everyone would just read John's blog!"
The last insert, with the butterfly, is a 2-year calendar. A bit too long for the Bible-dori & the paper quality is not great. I won't be getting those again, but good to have as a reference. For Americans, tho. Not as handy for the international crowd!

And here's the back:
I didn't put a pocket on the back since I did the folder. Also,
from now on I'm going to do the enclosure elastics in the spine.
Here it is without the inserts:
The maps on the inside cover were actually part of the Bible and I glued them on as the background.
Here's all the stuff I put in there:

I was so excited to see Grace's video this morning to see how she's using it!

AWESOME!  And doesn't she have the CUTEST dog?!  :-)
