Doggie Monday

I was all cozy in my jammies in the meditation chair Sunday morning with Buddy, so I took a pic with my iPad:
A bit blurry!
 This is better:

Buddy likes to be under the kitchen table, too:

"What's with the lighting?" you may be wondering. Oops. Here we go with the flash:
Hullo.
 Outside:

I got a new bag of dog food and put it in the food bin. Here's Buddy licking out the bag:

Saturday, I just took pictures of Buddy in the meditation chair whenever he changed positions:

Because I don't have enough photos of him sleeping!

You may be noticing a lack of non-Buddy pix. Here's Bingo:
She's partial to the T.U. rug.
Back to Buddy:

Closer up, in case you were thinking that the previous photo
had too much extraneous stuff in it & the shot needed to be tighter.
Appearance from T-Bob:

Disturbing his slumbers:

But then! Tabby usurps the chair:

Sunday evening:
s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out!

No pix of Reggie this week, but here's Bingo:
She likes when I scritchy-scratch under her legs.

Bat girl!

I've been keeping a journal on the dogs, the Snoopy Moleskine that John Morgan gave me for my birthday. I've been writing favourite memories and putting in cute pix. Had I not gone back and read what I wrote this week, I'd think it's been a rather uneventful week. Apart from Buddy waking me up at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning to go outside. And Reggie barking at 4 a.m. and again at 5 a.m. *sigh*

But then I was reminded of Wednesday morning. I walked to the bathroom and luckily I turned the light on because the floor was a sea of dog pee. I'm not kidding. So I had to clean that up before I could go in! And then I was remembering that morning around 3 a.m. when Bingo was whining. And then Reggie and Buddy started barking because Tabby was scratching at the door. So I just thought it was Tabby needing to come in. Poor Bingo!  So sorry, sweetie. It won't happen again! Next time I won't assume that she's joining the Bark Fest at the cat.

Also, Buddy has added another food-related word to his vocabulary: wobbler. As in, "Where's your wobbler, Bingo?" This is what I say when it's time to eat. So I said this, and Buddy, who was outside, comes trotting back in!  Funny little guy. And so smart. When it comes to food!

The ticks are out. Ugh. I hate using conventional pesticide stuff on the dogs, so I've been looking for alternatives. So this is what I'm doing:
  • For mosquitoes, lemon oil (works for humans, too). You can add this oil to water for flavoring, too. Very yummy.
  • For fleas, a mixture of diatomaceous earth, neem powder & lemon eucalyptus oil
  • For ticks: rose geranium oil.

Lemme just say, the rose geranium oil is ah-mazing! First of all the smell is lovely; just smells like roses. You have to apply it every few days, when it starts wearing off. Well, Buddy came in with a couple ticks. One was one of those teeny-tiny seed ticks, the size of a freckle, dug into his arm pit (you know what I mean). I put a drop of rose geranium oil on my finger and applied it to the tick and the surrounding area. It killed the tick. It let go and was dead. It took a bit longer for the larger tick, but it let go, as well. (I didn't wait for it to die, I just flushed it. Like you do.) YAY! So I'm really liking this stuff!

So that's what's been up this week. All is well at our little lake house. HAPPY Monday!  :-)
