Here in the South, we like our ice tea. My very-British mother was appalled. "Ice in your tea?!" Most Brits think this is barbaric. Here's Mum being appalled:
She was actually watching an episode of Hoarders. But that's the LOOK. Also note that she stopped mid-sip of tea. (HOT tea)! |
Southern tea is SWEET; so sweet that it hurts my teeth--much like 80's heavy metal hair music.
For those who like a bit of a twang to their tea, here's a refreshing drink you can have anytime, anywhere with a *secret ingredient* that sets it apart and will have people begging you for the recipe!
Hali's Summertime Tea Recipe
- 4 family-size tea bags (I use Lipton decaf) or 8 regular sized teabags (P.G. Tips is the BEST, Jerry! but also a little sacrilegious as it's very-proper-British-tea)!
- 8 cups water, boiled
- Gallon-sized container or pitcher
- 1 can frozen lemonade (See? Has sugar enough to be sweet-ish but not TOO sweet)
- ice
- wooden spoon for stirring
Instructions:
Boil water in pan & take off burner. Add tea bags to water and let steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags and let cool to lukewarm. Fill pitcher with ice and add can of lemonade on top. Pour tea over ice and lemonade and stir. Kick back, relax and enJOY!
For a "weekend" version, just add tequila. I'm KIDDING! Tequila in your tea?! That's crazy talk. HAPPY summer!
