Funny Friday

You'll have to bear with me. I tend to think that lots of things are funny that other people might not even notice. Or if they do, not think it is funny. So here you go:

This celebratory, commemorative wedding plate, in all its glorious hideousness, made a great wedding gift to a friend who has as wacky a sense of humour as I do. She loved it. If you're married, you may remember that those lovely-perfect-crystal whatnots were a wedding gift, but can you remember who gave them to you? Prolly not. But this. This is unforgettable! As we approach the Bridezilla season, perhaps this will give you a few gifty-ideas. You're welcome.

Labyrinth Buttercups

It's buttercup season and the labyrinth is sprinkled with yellow dots. This has nothing to do with anything about this post, other than I took a picture. ;-) Saturday was World Labyrinth Day. So I went out and walked before Mum came over in the afternoon. It's May already! And all those things on my To Do List have magically remained . . . undone. Well, not all. But, still... So I was walking to feel a bit more inspired, a bit more motivated, a bit more _____. I've been feeling a bit of a slug lately. And then! You know what happened?

Well. I got stung by a wasp on the medial anterior part of my left arm, distal to the elbow. Yeah, I know, right? OUCH. And I'm allergic to stings. I managed to get the wasp off my back without getting stung again. YAY, me! But there was a big welt at the sting site, my arm was swelling up, and there was a red streak going up my arm, and it was burning. All the while, I'm telling myself to stay calm. [OK, stop laughing. You know who you are!] So I took some homeopathic apis. Then I went and got my little laser that I'd gotten from Dr. Brimhall a few years ago. As soon as I shined the light on the sting site, it stopped hurting. Immediately. I thought maybe it was the apis kicking in, or perhaps a placebo effect. So I moved it off the site. It started burning again. I kept lasering and long story short, you could barely see where I'd been stung!

So after I got the pain under control, I got curious about the sting point. Have you ever heard of bee sting therapy? I went to my Resonance Repatterning Meridians book and looked up which acupuncture meridian was affected; small intestine. Then I looked up the qualities associated to it.

I have to say that after the sting & the lasering, I no longer felt like such a slug. In fact, I had an energy and a mental focus that I'd been lacking prior to it. So while I would never wish for a sting, I'm not feeling so bad about it anymore. All in all, I'd say I'm feeling as sunny as a buttercup. :-)

First 4-leaf Clover of the Season

I have a knack for finding 4-leaf clovers. Here's my first one in my yard:

HAPPY Wednesday!

Trillium Trail

Last Friday my friend Paula-of-Overall invited me on a hike. Every year she goes to see the trilliums blooming in the national park outside Front Royal. We even walked part of the Appalachian Trail ("A.T." if you're a real hiker). So here are a few pix from our walk--about 4 miles!

Jack-in-the-Pulpit.

Pretty little flower--I forget the name.

May Apple.

And here's the trillium:

THANKS, Paula for an AWESOME time!

M&M Monday

I vacuum every coupla days. I do it while the girls are on the porch or in the kitchen. They don't have any kind of vacuum anxiety, tho. Remi used to see the vacuum and leave the room. Saturday, I actually vacuumed around the dogs! And finally they got up so I could vacuum where they were sitting.

I threw both beds together and Millie claimed them before I could put the other one back.

"Hahahaha. Mine. "

This doesn't look all too exciting. In fact, when I was looking at this photo of Maggie, I was wondering why I took it. But look closely, she took my slipper and has her foot over it.

"Hahahaha. Mine. "

Here are the girls coming down the ramp. They always stop and look at the road across the river. It's also where the train goes by.

Typical pic of Maggie plopped down:

Back up the ramp.

Mum came to visit on Saturday:

Mum says hello to Millie.

Mum: Which one is this? Is this the one with the dots?
Me: No. That's Millie. Maggie has the dots.
Mum: Well, this one has dots, too.
Me: Maggie's dots are a bit more prominent.
Mum: But this one still has dots.
Me:
Mum: Well, she does!
Me: [sigh]

"As soon as you get the photo of me smiling, can I stop touching her?"

Thanks for being a good sport, Mum. I know you're stretching yourself outside your comfort zone. And in light coloured trousers, too! :-)

World Labyrinth Day

It occurs to me that when I first started this blog, it was at the beginning of my creating labyrinth seminars, etc. I had just released The Healing Labyrinth Path CD and created my labyrinth website. I was doing all-things-labyrinth, even tho I'm a massage therapist, etc. So that's why I'm "Labyrinth Gal." That said, I realize I've not written anything labyrinth-related in a while. Recent readers would think it's more about my dogs. ;-)

Today, people around the world will be walking labyrinths at 1 p.m. their time.

You can find a labyrinth near you here. Check out The Labyrinth Society here. You can also do some labyrinth-related crafty things. Here are a few ideas from my labyrinth website. Here's a Cretan/Classical labyrinth that you can print & trace with your finger:

Rules of the labyrinth:

Follow all the way to the center and then back out again.
Start with an intention, or not.
You can say a prayer, mantra, affirmation, etc. as you're walking thru.

Here are a few labyrinth pix. This was my first labyrinth in WV. HUGE!

Kinda hard to tell, huh? About 50 ft. across.

Winter time.

Second labyrinth at River House, thru the seasons:

Center cross of labyrinth, with heart rock from WV labyrinth.

Remington, my treasure in the labyrinth. :-)

Have a BEAUTIFUL day, everyone. BLESSINGS on your path!
